Frequently asked questions
How much does this counseling cost?
There is no fee for counseling services at myWaypoint with the exception of bankruptcy counseling which costs $39 per individual / per couple.
I received an Act 91 notice. What should I do?
An Act 91 notice is a formal warning that your mortgage is seriously past due. Contact myWaypoint within 33 days of the notice date. Once we begin your application, Pennsylvania law prevents your lender from moving forward with foreclosure while your case is under review. The counseling is free, and the sooner you call, the more options stay open, from loan modification to reinstatement.
Do I have to file for bankruptcy if I come in for the counseling?
Not at all. Many people come in unsure and leave with options they had not considered. If bankruptcy is required or right for you, myWaypoint is DOJ-approved and reviews every alternative first. We provide the certified sessions and help you understand each step.
Is it too late if I am already behind on payments?
Usually not. The sooner you reach out, the more options you have, and our counselors can help at any stage.
